ADC ("the App," "we," "us") is a research-oriented app that estimates your chronotype and explores its relationship to lifestyle and cognitive factors associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) risk. ADC is developed and operated by an independent developer, not a registered company. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Who We Are

ADC is a solo-developed app. If you have questions about this policy or your data, you can reach the developer directly at adchronotype.study@gmail.com.

2. Information We Collect

When you create an account and use ADC, we collect:

• Account information: your email address, used to create and secure your account.
• Chronotype and lifestyle data: your responses to the chronotype questionnaire, including sleep and wake times, age, weight, height, and ethnicity.
• Family health history: whether you have a family history of Alzheimer's disease, which you provide voluntarily as part of the assessment.
• Optional cognitive test data: if you choose to take the in-app cognitive tests, we collect your results. This is entirely optional and only collected if you actively opt in.

We do not collect this data through hidden tracking — everything above is information you directly enter into the app.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To calculate and show you your personal chronotype result.
• To operate and maintain your account.
• If you opt in to cognitive testing: your cognitive scores, together with the lifestyle and chronotype factors described above, are used to improve our research dataset and to train and improve the model underlying ADC. This helps us build more accurate chronotype and risk-factor insights over time. This data is never linked back to your identity or account when used for the dataset or model training — see Section 6 for more detail.
• To maintain and improve the app generally (bug fixes, performance, etc.).

We do not use your data to serve you advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. Not Medical Advice

ADC is a research and educational tool. It does not diagnose Alzheimer's disease or any other medical condition, and it is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider with any questions about your health.

5. How We Store and Protect Your Data

Your account and assessment data are stored in a secure backend database that we control. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• Service providers who host our infrastructure (e.g., our cloud hosting and database provider), solely to operate the app.
• Authorities, if required to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, or ensure user safety.

If cognitive-test and lifestyle data is ever used in aggregate research findings or publications, it will be de-identified and not linked back to you individually.

7. Your Choices and Rights

• Cognitive testing is optional. You can use the core chronotype assessment without ever opting into cognitive tests.
• Access and correction: you can contact us to review or correct the information tied to your account.
• Deletion: you can delete your account and associated data at any time directly in the app using the delete account button. You can also email adchronotype.study@gmail.com if you'd like help. We will delete your data except where we are required to retain it by law.

If you are a resident of California, the EU/UK, or another region with specific data protection laws, you may have additional rights under those laws (such as data portability or objecting to processing). Contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

8. Children's Privacy

ADC does not set a maximum age limit, and our research dataset and model are built around adults aged 40–60, so results are most meaningful within that range. Separately, U.S. law (COPPA) requires special protections for anyone under 13, so ADC is not directed at and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Data Retention

We retain your account and assessment data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the app and support the research described above. You can delete your account and data at any time using the delete account button in the app, or by contacting us as described in Section 7.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the app evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
